The global climate crisis presents an unprecedented challenge that disproportionately affects underrepresented communities in the SWANA region. Young women from this region face unique, intersectional challenges driven by the legacy of colonialism, marginalization of indigenous voices, and systemic inequities. The SWANA Climate Sirens movement emerges as a vital response centered on amplifying decolonial and indigenous perspectives within the climate justice space. Recognizing colonialism's historical and ongoing impacts, this feminist decolonial youth-led collective elevates the voices, wisdom, and leadership of young women from the SWANA region as critical for addressing climate change through an intersectional lens.
