Yasmine Kelkouli
Policy & Research Committee

I am Yasmine Kelkouli, a young Algerian activist currently studying Politics and International Relations at university. My academic focus lies in the geopolitics and history of the MENA region, which drives my dedication to addressing global challenges through collaborative efforts and decolonial practices. My passion for social and environmental justice is reflected in my extensive volunteering and advocacy work. I have actively engaged with various organisations, working on projects that promote gender equality, environmental sustainability, and the empowerment of marginalised communities.

A pivotal experience in my journey was my involvement with a local Algerian NGO during the devastating forest fires in Algeria. I played a key role in mobilising resources and coordinating relief efforts for the most impacted villages. This hands-on experience solidified my commitment to creating meaningful change and equipped me with the practical skills necessary to drive impactful policies. As a member of Climate Sirens's Policy Committee, I aim to use my privileged position to amplify the voices of Indigenous and local women in the SWANA region, who have long been marginalised in the discourse on climate justice. I envision a future where their perspectives and experiences are integral to shaping policies that foster equity and sustainability.
